PresidentMy name is Nita Beyla and I'm a third-year student in Chapman's School Psychology program and I am pursuing an emphasis in Professional Clinical Counseling. I will be completing internship nearby at Anaheim Union High School District. I am excited to bring my experience as a Secondary English and Special Education Teacher to inform my practice. I'm especially passionate about school-based mental health and inclusivity. My interests include transition planning, trauma-informed practices, and support for LGBTQIA+ students in schools. When I'm not working or studying, I like to spend my time hiking, creating art, and getting lost in a good book. I am honored to serve as CUASP President for the 2022-2023 school year— I can’t wait to see the amazing things we will accomplish!

Vice PresidentMy name is Caroline Fung, and I am a third-year student in the school psychology program. I completed my practicum hours at Anaheim Elementary School District. This year, I will be completing my internship with Anaheim Union High School District and am currently an intern with the Families, Agencies, and Schools Together program at CHOC. I am passionate about early intervention services, transition planning, mental health, and social justice advocacy. I am from Fresno, California, and completed my undergraduate education at UCLA (go bruins!). In my free time, I enjoy looking for new places to eat, spending time with my family and friends, watching and playing basketball, traveling, and walking around nurseries and botanical gardens. I am excited to serve as CUASP’s Vice President for the 2022-2023 school year with all of the outstanding board members.

TreasurerHello, my name is Reika Kaneko. I am in my third year in the School Psychology Program and pursuing an emphasis in License in Professional Clinical Counseling (LPCC). I will complete my internship in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District during the 2022 - 2023 school year! Aside from school and internship, I work as a private tutor for Kindergarten through 9th-grade students. I love interacting with students one-on-one and seeing them grow through an academic lens. I am also passionate about minimizing the stigma around mental health within the Asian American community and creating culturally appropriate school systems. If I have some free time, I like to go hiking with my sister and two corgis, visit coffee shops, and bond with friends over a meal. I am looking forward to serving as your Treasurer!

For the 2022-2023 school year, I will be at Anaheim Union High School District for practicum. I am always eager to learn more about how I can promote mental health and inclusion in schools. I am also passionate about advocating for culturally-appropriate practices. When not at school or practicum, you can find me trying a new recipe at home, watching my favorite shows, or spending time with my family. I also enjoy long walks at botanical gardens, beaches, and aquariums.

HistorianHi everyone! My name is Donald Sherwood––I'm your historian this year! I'm a 3rd-year in the program completing my internship and LPCC hours at Lowell Joint School District in the Whittier/La Habra area. I'm interested in strengths-based assessment, positive behavior supports, and mental health intervention. I like to spend my free time training for triathlons––running around outside and riding my bike up and down hills for a few hours on the weekend. I'm originally from Walnut Creek, California (San Francisco Bay Area) and I moved down here just over a year ago for this program.

I completed my practicum hours in Huntington Beach Union High School District. I am completing my internship in Anaheim Elementary School District and earning LPCC hours at Anaheim Union High School District. I am passionate about equity, multi-tiered systems of support, early intervention services, home-school collaboration, and supporting LGBTQ+ students. Outside of grad school, I enjoy going out to eat, spending time with friends and family, listening to music/ podcasts/books, leisure reading, playing with my dog, and watching cheesy Hallmark movies.

Community LiaisonMy name is Emily Drinkwine, and I am a third-year student in the school psychology program and pursuing the License in Professional Clinical Counseling (LPCC) emphasis. Last year, I completed my Practicum fieldwork in Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District. During the 2022-2023 school year, I will be completing my Internship fieldwork in Anaheim Union High School District. In addition, I work as an intern for the Families and Schools Together (FAST) Team at The Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders. In the field of school psychology, I am passionate about the trauma-informed approach, school-based mental health services, and parent/caregiver inclusion and collaboration within the psychoeducational evaluation and Special Education processes. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, practicing yoga, and shopping at the local Farmer’s Market on the weekends.

WebmasterHi everyone! My name is Rayce Tamanaha; I’m a second-year school psychology student at Chapman University. This year, I'm completing my practicum at Los Alamitos Unified School District. Within the field of school psychology, I’m very excited to learn more about multi-tiered systems of support, relative to academic and behavioral interventions. In addition, I’m passionate about further supporting students through strengths-based approaches, specifically those who identify as LGBTQ+ and individuals on the Autism Spectrum. Outside practicum, I work with Greater Anahiem SELPA’s ABA services at Rossmoor Elementary. In my free time, I also enjoy trying new restaurants and retail therapy. I'm very excited to be a part of CUASP this year, and am grateful to be working with such an amazing team!

NASP Student RepresentativeI'm in my third year of the School Psychology Program at Chapman. Previously, I taught English language arts and reading in South Los Angeles for three years before leaving to come to Chapman. In May 2020, I completed my Master's in Urban Education with a focus in Literacy at Loyola Marymount University. I completed my practicum hours at my old district Green Dot Public Schools, and did some of my elementary hours at Anaheim Elementary School District. This year I will complete my LPCC hours with the City of Chino Human Services and the Chino Valley Unified School District and my school psychology internship hours with the Murrieta Valley Unified School District. I am passionate about social justice and equity issues impacting education, social-emotional learning, restorative practices/alternative discipline, and mindfulness interventions. I'm excited to connect CSP with NASP this year!

CASP RepresentativeHi everyone! My name is Jessica Wright and I am a second-year school psychology student with an emphasis in professional clinical counseling (LPCC). I will be completing my practicum hours in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District for the 2022-2023 school year. Before arriving at Chapman, I studied public health and conducted PTSD research at the University of Southern California, where I also volunteered at Keck Medical Center and St. Jude Hospitals. I have a passion for studying and improving the areas of threat assessment, violence prevention, trauma, mindfulness, and resiliency for foster youth, homeless youth, and students with special needs. I am also a big advocate for self-care and self-kindness! Outside of school, I love doing yoga and Pilates, going on walks by the beach, cooking new meals, skateboarding, needlepointing, and finding new restaurants to try with friends and family. I am so excited to support and connect our program to the amazing CASP and all of the great research, events, and opportunities they have in store for us!
